Meet Jason Jordan
What led you to a career at Duratec?
“I’ve spent the last 25 years working in Western Australia on many different sites across the mining sector. During this time, I enjoyed delivering complex industrial projects on time and within budget. My past skills and experience lend themselves well to my role here at Duratec.
I’m a strong believer in developing solid relationships with clients, a key part of my role here. It’s important to gain a deep understanding of a client’s needs over time, thinking outside the box to solve their many challenges. Duratec can pull from experience across several sectors to make this happen. The business has a history of solving complex challenges for its clients and I’m keen to get involved in this.”
How does your role safeguard and extend asset and infrastructure?
“My background is in coatings and the whole purpose of what I do is to extend the life of the assets rather than replace them. This is usually more cost effective for the client. Getting an asset back in service quickly saves the client valuable time and reduces their operating costs.”
What’s your biggest professional achievement and why?
“I would have to say its developing teams, watching them grow in confidence and advancing their careers. Many of them have become client-side project managers, and I like to think I had a small part in that.“
What do you enjoy most about working at Duratec?
“I’m new to Duratec, but from observation I’d say it would be the diversity of the scopes that Duratec delivers. From building and facades, heritage and infrastructure projects through to mining, energy, industrial and defence. It’s an interesting space to be in and I’m keen to get stuck in.”
What have you learned during your time at Duratec and what has inspired you?
“The support between departments and across the business is very refreshing to see. Teamwork is essential for delivering the range of services we provide.“
What advice would you give to someone starting out in their career?
“Being busy and being productive are not the same thing. Saying ‘yes’ to every opportunity without the support of the business and a well-structured team will end in failure. Also, a work life balance is essential to your productivity and mental wellbeing.”
