Flinders Port Remediation Project

The Duratec South Australia team first began working at Inner Harbour Adelaide in 2019. The assignment? To remediate the wharf’s berths 18 to 20 in three stages. The structure had deteriorated significantly and required significant rehabilitation to bring it up to an acceptable condition to continue operating safely and effectively into the future.

Being awarded all three stages of the Flinders Ports project is testament to the South Australia team’s consistent delivery of high-quality marine work and ability to work within time and budget constraints.

Victoria Barracks Restoration Works

Heritage listed in 2004, Victoria Barracks houses is one of the most important groups of Edwardian high-risk military buildings in Australia.

Aurecon engaged Duratec Australia on behalf of the Department of Defence to complete heritage building restoration works at the Barracks. Defence is responsible for an important legacy that has been built up through its history – a legacy of land, places, buildings, memories and stories.

Duratec Australia is proud to have helped the Department of Defence restore the structural integrity and aesthetics of the heritage buildings at Victoria Barracks.

Dumas House Restoration

The WA state government’s iconic public service building, Dumas House, is located close to King’s Park in West Perth.

Duratec Australia was engaged by the owners of Dumas House to conduct a condition assessment survey of the west and east facades to assess the root causes of the building’s deterioration.

The remediation contract to restore the historic building’s façade’s integrity and aesthetics was awarded to Duratec Australia to complete.

The building remained fully operational throughout the works and Duratec Australia was responsible for traffic management and management of all public accessways and staff entries.

In restoring this building which is such an iconic part of the Perth city skyline, the Dumas House Facade and Podium Restoration has been another successful project for Duratec Australia.

Duratec Australia Dampier Cargo Wharf Fender Replacement Project

The Dampier Cargo Wharf (DCW) was constructed in 1982, and provides seven berths for the loading and provisioning of vessels servicing the marine industry and offshore oil and gas fields. The fenders on the western side of the DCW were in poor condition and Duratec was engaged to replace the old high maintenance ones with a more modern and durable design for an extended service life.

Point Quobba AtoN Remediation

The Point Quobba aid to navigation (AtoN) is located approximately 30nm north-west of Carnarvon, WA. The structure consists of a reinforced concrete cylindrical tower with cast iron lantern room and a stainless steel balcony. The upper portion of the concrete tower was showing signs of deterioration and the lantern room had significant corrosion between the panel joints which was causing the cast iron panels to crack. Duratec was engaged by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority to refurbish the concrete tower and lantern room. Watch this time-lapse footage of the removal of the lantern room.

HMAS Stirling Low Level Bridge Repairs Project

HMAS Stirling is the Royal Australian Navy’s primary base on the West coast and is located on Garden Island.

The Low-Level bridge that links the island to the mainland is critical Defence infrastructure and required structural maintenance and life extension.

Crown Metropol Design & Construct Project

Built in 1985, the then Burswood Hotel complex’s exterior has undergone several expansions, renovations and maintenance upgrades and was re-branded in 2012 to Crown Metropol. With nearly 30 years of exposure to weathering, the façade was in need of a major refurbishment with the priorities being architectural coatings, window sealing and waterproofing the outside.

Bunbury Port Authority Wharf Remediation Project

Duratec was awarded a five year design and construct contract by the Bunbury Port Authority for the remediation of the outer harbour’s berth’s 1 and 2. The project involved a structural analysis of the deck capacity, technical condition survey of the reinforced concrete wharf piles, a review of the land-back reinforced concrete retaining wall, and a geotechnical review and remediation of the land-back embankment.

Old Treasury Building Balcony Remediation Project

Built awarded Duratec a remediation contract to provide design and construct building repair services to the heritage listed Old Treasury Building in Perth’s CBD. The works were performed under a design and construct contract with the brief to remediate and strengthen the balconies compliant with current Australian Standards Structural Design codes, State Heritage requirements and remain serviceable for a 100 year design life.

Parmelia House Facade Repairs Project

Duratec was engaged to perform a variety of repairs to the 19 storey Parmelia House facade in Perth. Parmelia House was built in 1968 with extensive use of reinforced concrete. The maintenance works included remediating spalling concrete and the repair and strengthening of sun hoods on the north and south facades.

International School of WA Concrete Repair Project

Duratec was awarded a repair contract at the International School of Western Australia in City Beach. The works involved concrete repair, installation of a cathodic protection system and coatings application throughout the school.
