What led you to a career at Duratec?

I’ve worked in a variety of leadership roles over the past 16 years, from Access Superintendent on Barrow Island, Australia’s largest oil and gas project, through to State Manager, Operations Manager and, most recently, Executive General Manager for a large privately owned access company operating nationally.

Joining Duratec was a natural progression. For more than 10 years, I worked closely with the business through my previous role, partnering on projects across Australia. During that time, I developed strong relationships with many of the people in the organisation and saw firsthand Duratec’s commitment to safety, quality and delivering exceptional outcomes for clients.

Having admired the company’s culture and reputation for many years, the opportunity to join as National Access Manager was one I was excited to pursue. It allows me to bring my experience in access solutions, leadership and business development into an organisation whose values and long-term vision closely align with my own.”

How does your role safeguard and extend asset and infrastructure?

As National Access Manager, my role is to ensure safe, efficient and innovative access solutions are delivered for projects that maintain, repair and protect critical infrastructure. By providing the right access strategies, we enable specialist teams to complete essential remediation and asset preservation works safely and effectively. This helps extend the service life of important infrastructure, minimises disruption to communities and supports safer environments across the transport, defence, industrial and commercial sectors.

What’s your biggest professional achievement and why?

One of my proudest achievements has been leading the growth and transformation of a major scaffolding business. Building high-performing teams, improving operational performance and strengthening customer relationships while delivering sustainable business growth was incredibly rewarding.

While the commercial success was significant, the achievement I’m most proud of was developing people and creating a strong safety culture. Seeing individuals and teams grow, succeed and take pride in their work is something that continues to motivate me.

What do you enjoy most about working at Duratec?

Although I’m still relatively new to Duratec, I’ve been impressed by the company’s commitment to quality, innovation and delivering long-term outcomes for clients.

What I enjoy most is working alongside experienced professionals who are passionate about finding practical solutions to complex challenges. The collaborative culture, combined with a strong focus on safety and continuous improvement, makes it an exciting environment to be part of.”

What have you learned during your time at Duratec and what has inspired you?

Even in a short time, I’ve gained a deeper appreciation for the breadth of Duratec’s capabilities and the impact our projects have on preserving Australia’s critical infrastructure and supporting key industries, including mining.

I’ve been inspired by the expertise across the business and the shared commitment to delivering exceptional outcomes through teamwork, technical excellence and innovation. The support and acceptance I’ve received in this new role has also reinforced the strength of the company’s culture.

What advice would you give to someone starting out in their career?

Always be willing to learn, ask questions and embrace opportunities that challenge you.

Build a reputation for being reliable, safety-focused and someone who follows through on commitments. Strong technical skills are important, but your attitude, integrity and ability to build relationships will often have the greatest impact on your long-term success.

Most importantly, never stop learning. Every experience presents an opportunity to grow, both professionally and personally.
