Meet Nick Bone
What led you to a career at Duratec?
“My career has evolved through a diverse range of roles across fit-out and refurbishment projects, new builds, restaurants and hotels in the UK, as well as client-side project management, operational leadership and managing high-performing teams.
I joined Duratec to lead our building and facades division in Queensland, bringing together my experience in project delivery, client management and business leadership. Through building strong relationships with clients and colleagues, that role has since evolved into my current position as Strategic Account Manager, where I focus on supporting the building and facades sector nationally while assisting across our broader Queensland operations.”
How does your role safeguard and extend asset and infrastructure?
“A key focus of my role is helping clients identify practical, cost-effective solutions that deliver long-term value. Our goal is not always to replace an asset or structure, but to understand the underlying issue and determine how it can be remediated, repaired or protected. By taking a pragmatic approach to project planning and delivery, we help clients maximise the lifespan of their assets while reducing unnecessary replacement costs and disruption.”
What’s your biggest professional achievement and why?
“While it’s difficult to identify just one standout achievement, being involved in the construction of a new café and restaurant within the National Gallery in London was a particularly memorable project.
Working within one of the world’s most iconic cultural institutions presented unique challenges and opportunities, and being part of the team that successfully delivered the project remains a career highlight.”
What do you enjoy most about working at Duratec?
“One of the things I enjoy most is the calibre of professionals we have across the business and the breadth of expertise available within our various divisions.

What advice would you give to someone starting out in their career?
“Soak up as much knowledge as you can and always be respectful to the people around you.
You never know when something you learn today might prove valuable months or even years down the track. Building strong relationships, staying curious and maintaining an open mindset will serve you well throughout your career.”
