Duratec was contracted by Barrick Gold to perform concrete repairs at the entrance and inside their stockpile tunnel.

Details

The majority of the works were completed over a scheduled eight day shutdown incorporating a day shift and night shift crew.

Concrete was removed by jackhammers before the steel reinforcement was replaced as required and abrasive blasted and coated for additional protection.

The concrete was then reinstated back to its original condition utilising a variety of methods including pump fed micro concrete and dry mix gunite.

Highlights

  • To meet the shutdown deadline, two six man teams worked rotating shifts around the clock to complete the 65m2 repair area.
  • The works were completed safely and to the client’s satisfaction.
  • Due to tight working environments, a combination of methods (form and pour, grout pumping and shotcreting) was required to repair the degraded areas.

  • Concrete Repair
  • Shutdowns
