Duratec was engaged to provide access scaffolding and containment, full NDT scanning of the structure, fabrication and steel repairs in addition to the full removal and re-application of protective coatings.

Details

The Torrens River Rail crossing is located within Adelaide’s inner city parklands and is one of three structures crossing the river at this point.

Positioned in the centre of the three structures the bridge represented a number of challenges with live rail either side and strict rail shutdown delivery periods.

Duratec successfully completed over 1000m2 of full lead removal and re-coating works in a period of 16 days, the construction programme became a live document which required 24 hour full-time management to ensure the sequence of trades was not compromised and the tight deadlines met.

Highlights

  • An effective bridge maintenance program advocates remediation while the structure is still in a reasonable working condition.
  • The structure required the use of Duratec’s PCCP level 6 accreditation due to the existing coatings’ lead-based properties.

Capabilities

  • Concrete Repair
  • High Performance Coatings
  • Bridge Maintenance
