Rio Tinto have engaged the services of Duratec to perform a variety of remediation techniques to refurbish rail bridges in the North West.

Details

The bridges are located on Rio Tinto’s rail network throughout the Pilbara.

A variety of works has been undertaken including the abrasive blasting and application of protective coatings to both steel and concrete, concrete repairs, grouting of base plates, handrail repairs and coatings, concrete protection, bolt tightening, general steel repairs and vegetation clearing.

The works started in September 2013 and is due for completion in October 2014. In total 15 bridges will be refurbished.
