Duratec was engaged by Augility on behalf of the Department of Defence for the general maintenance and repair to eight buildings within Duntroon.

Buildings included Nimmo House, the Apple Shed, Female OR Accommodation, RMC Oval Pavilion, Duntroon Pool Plant Room, Patterson Hall, Barracks Block, and the Duntroon School House. The Duntroon base is one of the only military bases in Australia that is open to the public. The base possesses great historical importance and therefore it is important to regularly maintain the building.

Highlights

  • The based remained in operation throughout the works. Duratec staged the project to reduce impact on building end users
  • Duratec provided significant economic savings throughout the project this included altering the original scope of the OR Barracks to refurbish windows to be substituted with replacement of windows to comply with current BCA standards and minimize ongoing maintenance costs
  • The Apple Shed holds significant heritage importance. Duratec initiated change to scope of civil works to better protect the building from long term movement and cracking
