The Dampier Cargo Wharf (DCW) was constructed in 1982, and provides seven berths for the loading and provisioning of vessels servicing the marine industry and offshore oil and gas fields.

Duratec was engaged by Pilbara Ports Authority to remove redundant pipework – approximately 335m of diesel and approximately 427m of grey water piping along DCW’s deck and soffit.
The scope of work included:
- Flushing of all redundant piping.
- Removal of all redundant diesel and grey water pipework.
- Removal and disposal of all redundant support structures.
- Fabrication and installation of any additional hangers or support structures that may be required as a result of removing redundant pipework.
- Remediation of areas where pipework and associated pipe supports have been removed.
Highlights
- Redundant diesel pipeline was successfully purged, removing all remnants of remaining diesel fuel to ensure there was no risk of environmental incidents.
- All works were completed around high tide movements, vessel movements and vessel fuel bunkering, enabling the port berth face to remain open and continue normal operations.
- All removed pipework was 100% recycled with waste tracking. No general waste was created during this project.
- Works were successfully completed in a heritage marine area with no environmental incidents.
