R U OK? Day is a global phenomenon and its tagline, “a conversation could change a life”, has no doubt saved lives. This year, Duratec staff at branches and sites across the country came together – in unprecedented numbers – to acknowledge the importance of the day.
There were morning teas, barbeque lunches and even a mindful drawing session. Get-togethers also involved conversations surrounding mental health and checking in with colleagues. Some groups reflected on their own experiences with mental ill-health as if we haven’t suffered ourselves, it is highly likely that a loved one has.
Duratec prioritises mental health and many staff have completed mental first-aid training. The company is committed to participating in other such initiatives throughout the year.
