Deakin University utilised Duratec’s expertise to perform caulking joint replacement works on building C at its Burwood campus, 15km from Melbourne’s CBD.
The university was established in 1974 and has four campuses accommodating 43,000 students. Burwood is Deakin’s metropolitan site and boasts open spaces for studying and socialising and innovative architecture. The iconic building C stands close to the middle of the campus.
Duratec’s scope of works included the removal and replacement of caulking to external precast panels, replacement of caulking between concrete and end glass walls, cleaning of windows and concrete column capping beams.
- To minimise disturbance to the occupants of the building, multiple rope access crews removed and reinstated some 5,000 lineal metres of failed caulking material.
- Works were completed within a tight timeframe and without disturbance to the fully occupied building.
