60 King William Street is in the heart of the Adelaide CBD and is comprised of a multi storey commercial and office complex incorporating a heritage listed art deco building facade.

Duratec was engaged by Built Pty Ltd to restore the State heritage listed Sands and McDougall Facade.

Scope of works

  • 3D modelling
  • Restoration of the heritage facade including rendering, consolidation and painting
  • Restoration of the original canopy including structural steel repairs, new roofing and restoring the original flashings
  • Salvage and restore the original pressed metal ceiling panels to exactly match the original detail
  • Repair and reinstall the original windows including glazing and putty

Highlights

  • Recreating an exact replica of the horse emblem using silicon molds, putty and old photographs
  • Restoring and re-installing the pressed metal ceiling on the canopy
  • Painting the detailed elements of the building in the original colours, determined through working with heritage architects and paint scraper specialist to uncover the original paint colours
