Duratec, the construction, engineering and remediation contractor, showcased its Defence industry capability last week when the Hon Paul Papalia visited RGK Resources in Rockingham.
During the visit, Minister Papalia toured the MEnD and RGK Resources office, experiencing firsthand a range of technical demonstrations that highlighted advanced digital, spatial and materials engineering capabilities, alongside state-of-the-art services.
RGK Resources was recently acquired by Duratec via its 100 per cent owned digital asset management consultancy, MEnD Consultancy Ltd. The acquisition has created new opportunities for local industry, strengthening Duratec’s Defence capability in Western Australia.
Located on the doorstep of Garden Island and HMAS Stirling, RGK Resources plays a strategic role in supporting Defence infrastructure through specialist Asset Integrity, NDT & Rope Access services. It also enhances the position of Duratec as an integrated Defence partner, increasing its ability to deliver end-to-end, lifecycle solutions across Defence infrastructure.
Most recently, Duratec secured the safety critical ISO 19443 accreditation to support nuclear supply chains, becoming the first construction company in Australia to do so.
Paul Papalia, Minister for Emergency Services; Corrective Services; Defence Industries; Veterans; Racing and Gaming, said following his visit to RGK Resources: “Western Australia’s Defence capability is built on the strength of our local industry and skilled workforce.
“Duratec’s acquisition of RGK Resources and its growing technical capability demonstrates how WA businesses are stepping up to support Defence infrastructure through advanced engineering, asset integrity and specialist services.
“Achievements such as ISO 19443 certification highlight the high standards being delivered locally and reinforce Western Australia’s reputation as a trusted and capable Defence industry partner.”
Duratec Managing Director, Chris Oates, said: “We were delighted to host Minister Papalia and showcase RGK’s technical discipline, accreditations and strong industry ties. The combined capability of RGK with MEnD and Duratec, strengthens our unique offering and complements our proven track record delivering sovereign Defence outcomes across Western Australia.”
Aaron Kaeding, Managing Director at RGK Resources, said: “As proud Western Australian origin and based businesses, we are thrilled to have the support from Paul Papalia and the Western Australian Government as new opportunities emerge in the Defence sector.
“Our unprecedented, combined skillset within MEnD and the broader Duratec business truly creates a unique offering that can be customised to suit the evolving requirements of Defence Assets which we are fortunate enough to have on our doorsteps.”
