In a sector defined by complexity and rapid change, DXP Energy Solutions (DXP), a new joint venture by Duratec, marks significant expansion of capability across the Energy and Oil & Gas markets.
Established in October 2025, DXP Energy Solutions (DXP) was founded by former Santos and Oil Search executive Bill Easson, former Santos, Wood and Petrofac executive Minnie Lu, and Duratec’s General Manager Growth & Strategy Nigel Sweeney, who also held senior management roles with Oil Search and Santos.
Together, the leadership team brings extensive experience across major energy projects, drilling and completions, operations, engineering and decommissioning, combining deep technical capability with practical delivery expertise to support the full lifecycle requirements of energy assets.
A differentiated offering to the oil & gas market
Duratec’s energy capability is underpinned by a portfolio of specialist subsidiaries, including WPF, EIG Australia, MEnD Consulting and RGK Resources, each providing critical services required to deliver complex, regulated energy infrastructure.
DXP strengthens this platform by adding focused energy-sector capability across design engineering, well construction and drilling support, project management, operations support and decommissioning. As part of the Duratec Group, DXP expands the company’s reach beyond traditional construction and remediation into the broader technical and operational lifecycle of Oil & Gas assets, including LNG, onshore and offshore upstream and downstream facilities, Major Hazard Facilities and emerging energy transition infrastructure.
The value of the model comes from collaboration across the Group. By combining DXP’s specialist energy expertise with Duratec’s established workforce, delivery systems, regional footprint and industrial services capability, the business can provide clients with a seamless lifecycle solution from concept development and detailed engineering through EPC delivery, operations and maintenance, late-life asset management and decommissioning.
The model also enables closer collaboration across Duratec’s specialist businesses, bringing together engineering, construction, remediation, drilling support and operations capability into a unified energy offering.
This positions Duratec as one of the few Australian service providers capable of delivering practical, scalable and technically credible energy solutions across multiple stages of the asset lifecycle.
Proven experience in the sector to deliver end-to-end solutions
DXP is led by Managing Director Bill Easson, who has held senior executive roles with Santos and Oil Search, with responsibility for major capital projects, drilling and operational delivery across Australia and international markets. Together with Technical Director Minnie Lu and DXP’s growing team, the business brings hands-on experience working with operators, contractors, regulators and local stakeholders across Australia and Papua New Guinea.
Duratec General Manager Growth & Strategy Nigel Sweeney said: “The establishment of DXP reflects Duratec’s confidence in the long-term role of the Oil & Gas sector and the need for experienced, practical delivery partners. Bill, Minnie and the DXP team bring the sector knowledge, relationships and judgement required to operate effectively in this market.
“Their experience strengthens Duratec’s ability to engage earlier with clients, understand project drivers and convert opportunities into safe, disciplined delivery.”
Early project success
DXP has already secured significant contracts, reflecting strong market demand for coordinated energy solutions delivered through a single delivery model. DXP has also been awarded several new engineering scopes in the Surat Basin, covering both greenfield development and brownfield facility modification.
In addition, DXP is due to commence a significant 12-month turnkey decommissioning project valued at $45M on the island of Lihir, Papua New Guinea. The scope of works includes the decommissioning of 19 geothermal wells as part of the wider Near Shore Barrier project. This work is a critical enabler to unlock additional ore beneath the shoreline.
DXP Managing Director Bill Easson commented: “This project demonstrates our ability to deliver multidisciplinary decommissioning scopes through a single, coordinated model — combining rig services, engineering and in-country execution capability.
“Importantly, it builds on our deep Papua New Guinea experience and represents a strategic entry point into the PNG market, where we see strong long-term demand for energy and resource sector services.
“The expansion also creates opportunities for broader collaboration across the Group as activity continues to grow across Australia and PNG.”
A strong platform for the future
With DXP Energy Solutions, Duratec is now positioned to pursue larger and more complex oil and gas projects while offering clients a truly integrated solution across engineering, operations, maintenance and decommissioning.
The continued expansion of capability across high-growth areas of the energy sector reinforces Duratec’s commitment to innovation, collaboration and long-term value creation in a rapidly evolving market.
