Duratec has been engaged to deliver concrete remediation and structural repair works for BHP’s Under Harbour Tunnel (UHT) at Port Hedland a key asset supporting port operations.
Following detailed inspections, a program of works has been developed to address areas requiring remediation and extend the life of the structure.
The program of works includes:
- Environmental control measures
- Electrical and power system upgrades
- Installation of temporary support infrastructure
- Access and preparatory works
- Initial concrete remediation and structural repairs
The project presents several technical and logistical challenges, requiring careful planning to minimise operational disruption while maintaining safe access and delivery of works within a constrained environment.
Phase 1 of the program, which has already been completed, included enabling works and initial repairs. Phase 2 is due to commence in June and will involve targeted remediation activities delivered in staged shutdowns.
