Over the weekend of the 17-18 October, six Duratec riders successfully completed the 2026 MACA Cancer 200 Ride for the Perkins, joining approximately 1,700 riders in one of Western Australia’s biggest community fundraising events.
Malcolm Dolling, Byron Keegan, Sean Hannan, Nigel Kroonstuiver, Shane Katauskas and Riaan Van Jaarsveld completed the 200km challenge after months of training, fundraising and preparation, achieving a perfect six-from-six finish for the Duratec team.
This year’s event raised more than $9 million, contributing to more than $90 million raised across the event’s 15-year history. The funds support cancer research at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research, helping researchers translate discoveries into real-world outcomes for patients.
For Duratec, getting behind the ride reflects our vision of creating a future of social and economic benefit for people and communities. It also puts our values into action, particularly Care, through supporting the communities around us, and Collaboration, by working together and looking out for one another.
Crossing the finish line was a fantastic achievement but knowing we’re helping support people and families affected by cancer is what makes the ride truly worthwhile. We’re proud that all six riders completed the challenge and have already committed to riding again next year.
– Duratec MACA Cancer 200 Team
The riders were supported throughout the journey by colleagues, clients, family, friends, donors and sponsors. Duratec extends a sincere thank you to everyone who donated, secured sponsorships, provided photography, offered encouragement or cheered the team on, as well as the logo sponsors whose generosity supported the fundraising effort.
Together the Duratec team went above their target and raised over $20,500 to help fund essential cancer research.
The experience proved so rewarding that all six riders have already signed up for the 2027 MACA Cancer 200, with hopes of building an even bigger Duratec team.
